Speaking Of Rabbit Names

Probably the most famous name for rabbit is "coney", even though many people do not know what coney means.  They easily recognize the word because of the famous "Coney Island" in New York.  This is the subject of our newest article.  Read all about the history, development and current situation of this world-famous playground of America at Coney Island.

Update On The Mooreland School Rabbit Rescue

Over 100 of the domestic rabbits in the woods around the Mooreland School in the San Jose, California area were rescued last month, and rescue teams continue to rescue.  Sadly, over 100 rabbits died during the time it took to get through all the red tape required for permission to do the rescue.  Many of the rescue groups and individuals networked together to make this all possible.  Kudos to all involved.

This bad situation did open doors to help educate the community on the value of domestic rabbits as pets, not pests.  Newspaper articles were written and educational materials were passed out.  Please show your support by making a donation.  Here are the groups who are overseeing the spaying/neutering, medical care (most of the rabbits needed this), and adoption:

The Rabbit Haven has a wonderful video on YouTube of a litter of five rabbits rescued from the Moreland site named "The Five of Hearts" accompanied by the music of The Moody Blues "Once Upon A Time".  Do your heart a favor and watch at:  Five Rabbits

Speaking of Bunny Videos

We would love to some day make a video of our Bincy Bunny running up and down our hallway.  It can't help but put a smile on your face.  But we have yet to learn how to upload videos to YouTube.  So, in the meantime here is a video of Billy Bunny racing up and down his hallway to the tune of "Bicycle Race" by Queen:  Billy Bunny

The White Rabbit

If you are big fan of "Alice in Wonderland" like we are, and you think a vacation to Carmel-by-the Sea in California sounds like a good idea, you might want to visit The White Rabbit, a Alice in Wonderland themed store.  Their latest item is an Alice in Wonderland alarm clock.  They even have wristwatches that run backwards.  Here is the "hole" to go down to find their link:  The White Rabbit

Or if the Pacific Ocean front in California is not exotic enough for you, how about a beach bungalow in Thailand.  It is called the Rabbit Resort.  And why do they call this escape to paradise the Rabbit Resort?  Because Mr & Mrs Rabbit own it.  See their picture and their resort at:  Rabbit Resort

Who Has The Oldest Rabbit?

We found this article on the Net.  It was posted in late 2008.  It shows the Guiness Book of Records for the oldest living rabbit at 14 years of age.  What is interesting is the many comments people have posted in response to the article who have rabbits older than that.  Check it out for yourself at:  Oldest Rabbit
.

Then we found an Associate Press story on the Net that says the Guiness Book of Records has found an even older rabbit which now holds the record at 15 years of age.  It was posted one month ago.  See for yourself at:  Newest Oldest Rabbit

The Autumn Of Life

September 22nd was the official first day of the Fall season.  It is a beautiful time of the year here at the Mid-South Bunny Museum because the abundance and diversity of trees that surround us beginning their annual ritual of coloring leaves.  It is a period of maturation verging on decline.  How encouraging to hear stories of house rabbit companions who have such long-lived pets.  With the advances being made in the knowledge of rabbits have come longer and healthier lives for our buns.  If you have a rabbit-savvy vet in your community, please do not take them for granted.  You are blessed.  Till next month,

David & Linda
