It became popular in the 1970's and spread to Southeast Asia in the 1980's. In the 1990's the fad hit America and the other Western countries.
Today karaoke has become a side feature to home theater systems. And just as Japan began this worldwide form of karaoke entertainment, maybe they have hit on another fad to sweep the globe. Picture to the right is of karaoke booths.Pet-themed coffee shops are now all the rage in Japan. Most are cat-themed, but some are usagi-themed (the Japanese word for rabbit). Live rabbits are kept in a sectioned off room from the food section of the restaurant where patrons can look at, pet, and enjoy bunny rabbits. You can even BYOB, Bring Your Own Bunny. Of course, the motif for these eating establishments is rabbits, rabbits, rabbits (we know how they can multiply. The word Origami is Japanese for "folding paper". One sheet of a paper square is used to make a design. And yes, you can Origami a rabbit. Here is a demonstation that gives instructions on how to do it. You may have to pause the video as you go along because it moves quickly. Our featured article this month is that cute bunny with the sarcastic attitued, the ubiquitous Happy Bunny. Some people think Happy Bunny is just trashing up the culture, but for most folks Happy Bunny is a crack up. Last month we featured the oldest rabbit in the world according to Geuiness Book of Records, and also the newest oldest rabbit in the world. This month it is the Guiness Book of Records winner for the longest ears in the world. Those ears are 31.123 inches long. The proud owners of this beauty named Nipper's Geronimo are Wayman & Margaret Nipper of Bakersfield, California. This record was set on November 1, 2003. It looks like Geronimo may have a hard time maneuvering around his house. We can't really see the need for breeding for such long ears, but that's all we know about it for now.Spooked Rabbits
![]() Yes, our pet rabbits do spook easily. After 2 1/2 years of tender love and care, our Mini-Lop Bincy Bunny still gets spooked if I come into the room too quickly where she is hanging out. Halloween has become the night of spooks, yet in the Christian Church tradition it is a hallowed evening before All Saints Day on November 1st.
