Rabbit World View November 2007 Newsletter

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hopefully as you, family and friends gather around the Thanksgiving dinner table, thanks will be given as well as received.  Rabbit World View is thankful to God, Who is the source of all our many blessings.  And of course those blessings includes our little friend, Bincy bunny.

We are also thankful for all the wonderful people involved in rescuing rabbits that are not wanted.  Our friends at The Bunny Store are currently conducting their 2nd annual Holiday Fundraiser.  They will donate $1.00 from every holiday ornament they sell to a rabbit rescue/shelter group.  You can view the list of rescue shelters participating, and also see the ornaments available to buy at www.thebunnystore.com/holiday.htm.

There is a new book out by Marie Mead & Nancy LaRoche that champions those who selflessly care for animals, especially rabbits.  It is called Rabbits: Gentle Hearts - Valiant Spirits.  You can purchase it at Amazon.com (see bottom of page).

Speaking of Ornaments

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has finally put a rabbit on their yearly Christmas ornament they use as a fund raiser.  You can view it at:  Humane Society

A Reader's Response

Bunny lover Nell sent us this bit of information in response to last month's discussion of Gastro-Intestinal Stasis in rabbits.  Here is her contribution.

Hi David & Linda,

Several years ago Muzzle had trouble with his digestive tract & I took him to the vet.  He prescribed some medicine that the rabbits wouldn't take & he had told me from the time he prescribed  it that if they wouldn't take it to just give them Metamucil.  It worked like a charm.  So anytime my bunnies slow down on their eating or their cecal pellets get small I mix about 1/4 of a teaspoon of Metamucil with about 1/8 c. of water & give it to them with a syringe & it works corrects any kind of digestive problem.  And like with people, it corrects either diarrhea or constipation.

Nell
