Rabbit World View October 2007 Newsletter

World Animal Month

October is officially "World Animal Month".  We at Rabbit World View see it as World Rabbit Month!!  While we love all of God’s animals, we put our bunny rabbits at the top.  It has been said by highest authority “The least shall be the greatest”.  So since rabbits are at the bottom of the food chain, and thus very humble creatures, we exalt them especially during World Animal Month.

The reason the month of October has been chosen for this recognition is because October 2nd is Mahatma Ghandi’s birthday, the well-know and celebrated pacifist.  Also, October 4th is the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, known for his preaching of God’s love to the animals.  It was St. Francis who said “Preach the Gospel all day long, sometimes even use words”.

G. I. Stasis

Sometime in your bunny’s life he/she is going to encounter issues with Gastro-Intestinal Stasis because of the sensitive operation of the Cecum (see Rabbit Anatomy here).  Most of the time this can be rectified by diet and exercise with the help of something like Petromalt or Bunnymalt, especially if the the problem is fecal pellets being too small.  If complete constipation is the problem and nothing is helping the situation, a visit to a savvy-rabbit vet is in order.  GI Stasis problems are serious business.
