Easter has come so early this year. If you were up before the sun on Easter morning you would have noticed the moon still looked full. This is why the early date for Easter this year because it is calculated by the moon. The dating for Easter was decided at the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD. Easter was to be on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox. Easter hasn't been this early in the year since 1915.Speaking of full moons, our newest article is about the "Rabbit in the Moon". Children are fascinated with bunnies, so at this time of the year their interest is heightened by the presence of the Easter Bunny. As a result, this used to be the time when more rabbits were sold than any other, but no longer. National chain pet stores like Petco have gotten the message that too many of these "Easter" bunnies are soon let out in the wild or end up in Animal Shelters because rabbits do not make good first pets for children. Petco and others no longer supply their stores with baby bunnies around Easter time knowing how hard it is to resist buying one of these cute little creatures when their children beg for one. ![]() A bunny that is quite appropriate for Easter time (or any time for that matter) is a bunny cake. The race for the White House continues to dominate the News. Who will win? Who will be the First Lady/First Gentleman? Well, in Latvia they had a new development. The newly elected president owned a house rabbit, so when he entered the presidential palace the house rabbit moved in as well. The opposition party tried to mock the new president by having an inauguration of the First Bunny. It sounds like a great idea to us! You can read more about it by clicking The First Rabbit.
