In the beginning of the new Nicolas Cage movie "Knowing", his elementary-aged son, Caleb, is shown in his bedroom with a large grey house rabbit.  Then at the end of this Sci-Fi thriller, when the world is about to be destroyed by fire, Caleb and an elementary-aged girl named Abbey are chosen by "angels" to be taken up into Ezekiel's Wheel and be transported to another planet where the human race can begin all over again in paradise.  The angels give Caleb and Abbey permission to take one animal each along with them.  In their arms are the animals they have chosen - two white rabbits.

Also, as members of The Humane Society, we received our 2010 calendars this month.  All the large pictures featured at the top of each month are of dogs or cats or a combination of the two - no rabbits.  But on the month of May page there is a small picture of a grey lop-eared rabbit.  If you are like us and feel rabbits should be featured in at least on of the months main pictures (since bunnies are now the third most popular house pet in America) you can email them at onlinedonations@hsus.org.


Speaking of other planets, here is a cute YouTube video created by Zachah.  Yes, it is amateurish, but can you or I do better?  Simon the Bunny is at ground control, and Bob the Bunny goes to the moon and back - all to an original music score.  This is a very appropriate video since it was 40 years ago on July 20th that man first stepped on the moon.  Check it out at:  Rabbits In Space


The subject of Jacalopes is a lot of fun (unless you live in Wyoming or Texas where they take their jackalope stories quite seriously).  So where did these jacalope ledgends get started, and is there really such a creature?  Find our here:  The Jackalope


Designer Paul Smith has come up with a neat way to encourage people to put their litter into a trash recepticle.  It is a large statue-like rabbit holding a large bag.  When the waste is placed in the sack the rabbit's ears light up.  Coming soon to a city or town near you - we wish.  See the article at:

The great folks at Save-A-Bunny Rabbit Rescue in the San Francisco Bay area (www.SaveABunny.org) are using YouTube to promote adoption of their bunnies.  This is a great idea.  For instance, check out their video for the bunny named "Donald" who gives financial advice as he shows us how to be classy.  How can you not want to adopt this cute little guy?  Donald the Classy Bunny.


The people at Leith Petworks have really been using the grey matter of late.  Sometimes an idea for something creative is right before our eyes and in something we may use all the time.  Then presto, some creative person sees it and the rest is history.  So what in the world am I talking about?  Paperclips shaped like rabbits - definitely a "have-to-have-it" item.  You can be among the first in the world of hip to have one.  These paperclips are definitely Mid-South Museum worthy.  To order, just go to:  Rabbit Paper Clips


Ever wanted a list of companies that do not test their products in a way that harms or even kills the animal?  Well now such a list is available online thanks to the organization called Choose Cruelty Free.  Actor Hugh Blackman is one of their supporters.  If you want to make sure you are not contributing to the cruelty of animals by the products you choose to buy, then you can check out their list at:  Choose Cruely Free


So goes the lyrics to the song "Summertime" by George and Ira Gershwin.  In these recession-ridden days the living may not seem so easy (especially for those looking for work) but for our house rabbits it is definitely an appropriate song.  Our little friends know they have a Mummy and Daddy standing by so nothing will harm them.  Until next month,
