Summer Is Definitely Here

August is just around the corner, and in astrological jargon August is the Lion.  In honor of the Lion of Summer we would like to present an authenic Lion-Head bunny rabbit.  Lionheads are one of the newest breeds recgnized by breeder associations.  They are little guys that will weigh only about 3-4 pounds when full grown.  They have a mane like a male lion (even the females have one) with the rest of their body fur like a normal rabbit.  Lionheads are easy to train and make great pets.

George the Rabbit Breaks the World Record

As a general rule, it is said larger rabbits will live longer than the smaller rabbits.  Well, a Netherland Dwarf named George is trying to put that adage to rest.  George has recently been added to the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living rabbit at 14 years of age.  Joe & Amy Breton of Massachusetts are the proud owners.  Amy says the rabbit had a lot to do with bringing them together.  When she met Joe she thought he must be a pretty nice guy because he owned a rabbit.  You can see a 3-minute clip of this proud couple with the reigning champion of age, George the Rabbit by clicking George, the Oldest Living Rabbit.

Glass Bead Rabbits

Kim Kampa-Chilson is one of the most knowledgable lay rabbit experts in the country.  She is one of the driving forces of the best house rabbit online forum called Etherbun (Etherbun List).  She has been resuing rabbits for years, and the last time I talked with her she had 10 house rabbits.  Besides all this, Kim is a versatile artist who specializes in the art of glass bead making.  We have purchased several of her bunny jewlry pieces to display in our Mid-South Bunny Museum.  You can view Kim's work at her website and buy collector bunny glass beads for yourself:  http://www.craftedbykim.com.

Hoppiness Is A Rabbit

If you are looking for something to put a smile on your face, may we suggest you consider becoming a House Rabbit owner.  There is nothing that causes us to chuckle more consistently than to see our Mini-Lop Bincy bunny go hopping up and down the hallway to and from her "Clubhouse" (under our bed).  We don't know of anything cuter.  There are plenty of bunnies in Humane Societies and Rabbit Resues needing a hoppy home.  Please see our article to consider if a House Rabbit is for you The Pet Rabbit Speaks.
