New Year - New Beginnings

We all know the first of the year is a great time to set goals and begin projects.  We at the Mid-South Bunny Museum have begun a new adventure.  We have secured another bunny rabbit.  He is a cross between a black rabbit and a Lionhead, barely weaned, and is all black.  So far we are calling him "Blackie".  Now the goal will be to bond this little cutie with our almost three-year old Mini-Lop, Bincy bunny.  We will keep you posted.

I have a New Year suggestion for all house rabbit guardians - join the EtherBun List.  If you ever have a problem or question about your bun the Etherbun List is a great place to ask questions.  For instance, we recently asked about giving a peanut to our Bincy Bunny for a treat.  The next day we had 14 posts dealing with this subject, many of them going into great depth.  Although there were some cautions given, it was generally felt an occasional peanut in the shell was okay.  Go to this link to learn more about the EtherBun List and how to sign up (it's easy):  EtherBun List.

We even received a recipe for healthy Bunny Cookies from Etherbun List participant Liz.  Click here for this amazing  recipe:  Bunny Cookies.

Breeding Gone Wild

It is amazing all the different breeds of rabbits that have been developed over the centuries.  We know the Genome Project has successfully mapped the DNA chromosome, but crossing a rabbit with a bird is ridiculous.  Of course this picture is just a joke, but there are some scientists who are attempting to create such creatures.

Fortunately, hybrids can only be created using animals with similar genetics (something macro-evolutionists have yet to explain).  For the top 10 animal hybrids so far check out this link:  Top 10 Hybrids.

Tim Burton's "Alice In Wonderland"

This movie by Disney is coming out in March of this year.  From the movie trailer it seems the story is told through the eyes of the Mad Hatter (played by Johnny Depp).  The photo of their White Rabbit is a bit different from the one in the 1951 film, but hey, we are talking Tim Burton here.  For the two-minute theatrical trailer click here:  Alice in Wonderland theatrical trailer.

We have done an article on "Alice In Wonderland" from the eyes of the White Rabbit.  You can peruse it by clicking here:  The White Rabbit.

Killer Bunnies & The Quest for the Magic Carrot

Keeping in the vein of Tim Burton consciousness, here is a card game that is really off the wall.  You try to keep your bunny cards while eliminating your opponents bunny cards.  It all in fun - for instance, you can defend your bunny with a magic spatula.  Extra card sets are availble to enlarge the game and intrigue.  Read all about it at killer bunnies site:  Killer Bunnies.

Video of the Month

Here's a two-minute song by Chas & Dave that brags on the beauty of all the rabbits featured in this video.  Click here for rabbit entertainment:  Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit

2nd Decade of 21st Century

We are now in the second decade of this new century and the popularity of house rabbits continues to increase.  Here are some reasons which we hope will inspire those of you without a house bunny to become a guardian of one:

1.  Bunnies are the gentlest of pets
2.  Bunnies are smart (easily litter-trained)
3.  Bunnies are sweet
4.  Bunnies are quiet
5.  Bunnies do not require "walks" (or require backyards).
6.  Bunnies are easy on the pocket book
7.  Bunnies do not require vaccinations
8.  Bunnies are good pets for older children
9.  Bunnies are good pets for working people
10. Bunnies are excellent for elderly people
11  Bunnies are loving, sociable critters

We are wishing you and your pets a wonderful New Year.  May good health be yours and all your dreams come true.
