In The Dead Of Winter

Ever wonder what happens to rabbits in the wild during severe snow storms and cold like the states in America and Canada have been experiencing?  Well, they do not hibernate.  They survive by staying in their burrows.  Some breeds like the Snowshoe Hare do well in snow because of their thick coats.  The bunny on the left seems to be enjoying a time of basking in the snow.

White House Landscape Ideas

The king of Thailand has a summer house where the bushes are topiaries shaped into rabbits.  Now wouldn't it be great for the newly inaugurated President Obama to order something along these lines for the White House front lawns.  That is definitely the kind of "change" we rabbit lovers could really embrace.

House Rabbit Network Wins!

The great rescue group in Massachusetts, the House Rabbit Network, won the Animal Rescue Challenge contest by getting the most votes.  The prize - $1,000.  Not only that, they had a record year for adopting bunnies, 171.  They are an inspiration to us all.

The 2009 Rabbit Calendar I gave to Linda for Christmas which she loves (cute bunny pictures and humorous sayings to go along with them) is now available for the bargain price of $5.00 while supplies last.  Get one by going to:

Our Newest Article Is Full Of Tricks

We all love the Trix Rabbit, that ambitious white rabbit that is forever trying to get the box of Trix cereal from the children, using any trick he can come up with.  "Forever" is a proper term since the Trix Rabbit is the most enduring commercial mascot in television history.  Learn about the antics of this rascally rabbit who has amused the hearts of viewers for generations at: The Trix Rabbit

Underground Railway For Rabbits

Lana Lehr, the managing editor of the great rabbit rescue group Rabbit Wise, is asking for those interested in helping to save rabbits.  They have organized a nationwide "undeground" called Bunderground Railroad.  There are different levels at which you can participate, for instance being someone who can help transport an abandoned rabbit to a place where he/she has a new home waiting.  To find out more go to
www.Bundergroundrailroad.org.  Below is a story to illustrate how the Bunderground Railroad is such a needed volunteer service.

Dutch Rabbits Everywhere

Here is a story about a woman who was evicted from her apartment for not being able to pay her rent, yet the authorities found she had 69 Dutch rabbits living with her.  All the bunnies except one were in excellent health, to the lady's credit.  Here is the link to the Daily Herald Newspaper of Illinois about this situation:
69 Dutch Rabbits.

One of the rabbits we have rescued was a Dutch we named BunBun.  What a great house rabbit he made (although he loved to play outside in our fenced in backyard).  Here is a short, cute video of a Dutch rabbit who is a boxing bunny:  Dutch Boxer

We All Need Inspiration

In these economic troubled times we all need means of inspiration to keep us positive about the future.  When our neighbor loses his job it is a recession.  When we lose our job it is a depression.  And so it goes because we are all human.  But when we stop along the way to admire the simple things in life we can get our bearings back on track.

This is what artist Lorraine Bushek does with her love of rabbits.  Besides being a volunteer at the Rabbits Advocates of Portland, Oregon, she also oil paints rabbits.  We will leave you with the link to view her beautiful paintings and be inspired as we were:  Lorraine Bushek Rabbit Paintings.
