April Showers Bring May Flowers
If you let your house rabbit outside for fresh air and exercise be sure to be with your little friend. If there are any hawks or other big birds around, it only takes one swoop and your bunny is history. Also be careful about vegetation in the yard that may be harmful to a rabbit. You can find a good list of poisonous plants at the House Rabbit Society's site using this link (just click "poisonous plants" link) www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html
Bunny Bowlers
Did you make it for the San Diego House Rabbit Society's Bowling for Animals event on April 26th? The money raised will go toward the Feral Cat Coalition to build a spray/nueter clinic that also supports rabbits. Here are pictures of some of the "Bun City Bowlers".

America's # 1 Crime: I.D. Theft
With the rapid increase in I.D. theft it is important we stay vigilant when it comes to our personal information. Also, there is a lot of counterfeit money being passed along. So to help in the cause of solving crimes we offer this warning: Be on the lookout for these forgeries we have detected. Study them closely so you will not become one of their victims.
Touched By A Rabbit
Our latest article is a review of the wonderful new book by Lucille Moore & Kathy Smith Touched By A Rabbit. If you have a bunny-shaped heart, know what it is like to be a bunny slave, and understand about the Rainbow Bridge then this book is a must-read for you. For anyone else who loves stories from the heart, they also will love this book. See our review at: Touched By A Rabbit
Pet Rabbits Are Not For Dinner
Save A Bunny is a rabbit rescue group that is working diligently to educate the public that it is not right for restaurants to serve rabbits as an entree. Would you object if they offered Cat, Dog or Horse meat? Of course you would. Well, pet rabbits are the third most popular pet in America after dogs and cats. This group is getting the word out that the rabbits being served in restaurants are pet rabbits. They have a clever one minute video on YouTube that is fun to watch at:
Pigmy Rabbits No Longer Extinct
Thanks to Dave Hays, an endangered species wildlife bioligist with Washington State's Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Columbia Basin pygmy rabbit has been saved from extinction. To honor his wonderful efforts the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has awarded him with their National Recovery Champion award for 2007. See the article about him and the pygmy rabbit at:

Help For Handicapped Rabbits
Because of rabbits fragile skeleton structure they do not make good pets for small children. The children want to hold the bunny, the bunny freaks, jumps out of their grip, and lands badly to end up partially paralyzed. The good folks at Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society have a great article on wheelchairs, slings and other things you can do to help a handicapped rabbit live a more normal, happy life. There are even instructions on how to make them yourself. Check it out at: http://mn.companionrabbit.org/join/2009/02/rabbit-paralysis.html
More Bunny Humor
Ask any rabbit lover and they will testify to all the kidding they receive in the form of wisecracks about "rabbit hunting" or "rabbit stew" or other such kiddings. We bunny enthusiasts have to keep a sense of humor about all this and be forbearing knowing that those wisecrackers are just out of the loop. Here is a "back at you" cartoon: .jpg)
Stormy Weather at the Mid-South Bunny Museum
It is that time of year when we have to be on the alert for severe-weather sirens in our area. We have a walk-in closet that is prepared before hand and kept ready as our hiding place. Of course, we allow room for our house rabbit, Bincy. Storms don't seem to bother her nearly as much as her owners - she is just above it all.
Hoping your Spring season is severe-weather free, and your pets continue in good health.
