At the first sight of your beloved pet beginning to shed it is time to begin a daily grooming routine, especially for rabbits because of their sensitive digestive system.  Hair balls can be lethal to a bunny and cause the dreaded condition of Gastro-Intestinal Stasis.  By grooming a molting bunny and making sure the bun gets plenty of hay (they need the extra protein) and water, there should be no problems with GI Stasis issues.  See our article for grooming tips at:  Rabbit Grooming.

Spring is the season for putting in a vegetable garden to provide your buns with true organic food.  For those of us who need help on this subject you might want to consult a website for beginners:  Vegetable Gardening.


We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Christine Lea Beamer Bishop of Critter Cafe & Rescue a 501(c)(3), located in the state of Michigan.  In 2004 she dedicated her life to helping abandoned animals.  This week Christine adopted out her 1,016 animal, over 500 of them being rabbits (her favorite critter).  She even takes in horses.

Christine is a strong believer that God cares for all his creatures.  She has a prayer group at church that gathers on a regular basis to pray for people's pets.  If you ever need some prayer support you can give Christine a phone call at 231-865-6021 - she would love to hear from you.  Christine lives by faith so donations for her work are greatly appreciated (all contributions go to helping the animals).  You can donate via her website where you will also find an abundance of good information.  She even has The Bunnies Ten Commandments posted there.  See for yourself at:  Critter Care 

The wonderful people at Zooh Corner are currently setting up a table at the Pasadena, California Farmers Market every month featuring rabbits from their Rescue as a means to educate the public on the wonders of house rabbits and their care.  There is nothing like hands-on demonstrations to attract a crowd, and what is more attractive than a lovable fur ball of a rabbit.  Here is their flyer telling more about this wonderful idea:  Farmers Market 


There is a rabbit who lives in Japan named Oolong (name for a popular Chinese tea) who is able to balance things on his head.  His record so far is ten items at one time.  He is truly an amazing bunny.  Oolong enjoys doing these tricks so it not a form of abuse.  To see a bunch of pictures of Oolong balancing a wide variety of items check out this website (picture links at bottom of page):  Pancake Bunny 


We finally purchased a copy of Marie Mead's great book Rabbits:  Gentle Hearts & Valiant Spirits.  It is a joy to read, not only for rabbit lovers but for all lovers of animals.  It features true short stories of what lengths humans will go to save a helpless animal and nurse him/her back to health.  See our review at:

There is a group called Fast Up On Rabbit Care that posts videos on You Tube of operations they do on rabbits.  These are professionally done and are very informative.  If this type of information is of interest to you, you can check out some of their videos here:  Bunny Surgery 


We recently received news from Caroline of Caroline's Bunnyvile that her beloved bunny Rosebud had to be put to sleep.  Here is how she stated it: 

"My dear girl had a yummy breakfast of pear, raw almonds, grass and dandelions.  Then Dr. Oomah and I helped her to move on to her new adventures.  She went very peacefully.  We will miss her here, but she is now free to breathe deep with a strong heart, lungs and all four legs to race around with.  We will always love you Rosebud!  You are a very brave warrior princess darling. xo xo xo" 

In this world we may succeed in avoiding life, but no one can avoid death.  Death comes for us all.  While we are alive in this world, let us make each day count for eternity by loving others and our pets as we love ourselves.
